Host organisations

EURAXESS Slovakia, centers for researchers and research organizations, is part of the European EURAXESS network of centers in 40 countries. In Slovakia, the centers were gradually set up from 2004 at the initiative of the European Commission and national network consists of five SAIA, n. o. offices : in Bratislava, Nitra, Žilina, Banská Bystrica and Košice. From September 1, 2020, they were joined by the Slovak Academy of Sciences with a Contact Point for SAS - Euraxess point SAS, which belongs to the Department of Science and Research Support and is located at the Office of SAS at Štefánikova Street 49 in Bratislava.

 

Euraxess point SAS provides information and assistance to foreign researchers and doctoral students who come to SAS, or to their family members (for the purpose of family reunification). The information relates mainly to visa and temporary residence permit processes, social security, health insurance, or practical issues related to life in Slovakia (e. g. health care, COVID-19 vaccination, opening of a bank account, etc.) Information is requested directly by foreign researchers and doctoral students or by their coordinators (tutors) at SAS institutes, or directors of SAS institutes. Euraxess Point SAS accompanies SAS foreign researchers and SAS doctoral students at administrative procedures at the Foreign Police (Euraxess Point SAS team members provide interpretation, control of doucments, guidance, assistance).

The main idea is to follow the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter&Code) and to implement the strategy and action plan in order to improve processes and practices of human resources policies. SAS is obliged to achieve more transparent and fair recruitment and evaluation procedure and make academic and research career more attractive.
