SASPRO 2 PROGRAMME - ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 3RD CALL

SASPRO 2 Programme Steering Committee approved an announcement of the third call for applications to be submitted under SASPRO 2 Programme.

Date of call announcement: 1st November 2021 (Monday)

Deadline for submitting applications within the third call: 28th February 2022 (Monday, 17:00 CET)

The SASPRO 2 Programme is a project of the Slovak Academy of Science (hereinafter as “SAS”) and partners of the Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava (hereinafter as “STU”) and Comenius University (hereinafter as “CU”) with intention to achieve appropriate and incentive work conditions for scientists coming from abroad. Programme enables scientists to apply for a job position in scientific organisations of SAS and STU and CU Universities.

SASPRO 2 Programme is divided into two mobility schemes:

  1. Reintegration scheme – is dedicated for Slovak citizens who carried out their main activity (work, studies, other) in the Third countries (excluding EU member states and EU associated states) at least for 3 years from 5 prior to the application submitting and who have resided or carried out their main activity in the Slovak Republic for maximum 3 months prior to the application submission;
  2. Incoming scheme - is dedicated for researchers - scientists (EU member states citizens, associated countries and the third countries, including Slovak citizens) who did not reside or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the Slovak Republic for more than 12 months within the last 3 years prior to the application submission.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicant and application must meet the Eligibility criteria, as stipulated in the SASPRO 2 Programme Statute. In short, the applicant must be in possession of a PhD degree or equivalent title and he/she obtained the title maximum 15 years prior to the application submission. The eligible host organisations are all scientific SAS organisations, departments of STU and CU Universities. Applicant chooses a project topic; however, the topic must correspond to scientific orientation of a host organisation.

Researchers that are already permanently employed by the entity where the research training activities take place and that is recruiting them may not be supported.

It is recommended the applicant shall point out in his/her application an intention to participate in secondment in organisation from applied science field – if project topic character allows it. The Programme offers opportunities also for women in science, researchers having special needs, researchers displaced from conflict areas and those after disconnected working career.

Application must be written in English, sent online via the applications submission system and shall contain all the particulars required as stipulated in the GUIDE FOR APPLICANTS.

Application procedure:

The SASPRO 2 Programme applications shall be sent online via the applications submission system, which will be available from the SASPRO 2 Programme Website four months prior to the deadline for applications submission. Before submission application itself it is needed to register in the system. For details, refer to the Guide for online application.

Evaluation of applications:

Applications are evaluated in two rounds. In the first round meeting the eligibility criteria, technical and formal requirements are considered. In the second round application is evaluated by independent experts and negotiated by the SASPRO 2 Programme Evaluation Committees. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for personal interviews, it will be possible to perform it online via videoconference. Based on the above-mentioned steps the Evaluation Committees classify the applications into categories and make recommendations for funding to the Presidium of the SAS. Universities shall decide themselves on applicants who apply to their faculties and other organizations belonging to universities. Presidium of the SAS will make final decision which applicants will be invited to the negotiation of the Employment Contract. Details are provided in the SASPRO 2 Programme Statute.

Negotiation of the Contracts:

During this period, negotiation with successful applicant and negotiation with a particular host organization about terms of finances shall be in progress in parallel. At the end of successful negotiation, a contract shall be agreed upon and signed by respective parties:

1. Contract on funds providing and co-funding of project between:

  1. SAS and a host SAS organization,
  2. SAS and CU University,
  3. SAS and STU University.

2. Employment Contract between a host organization of SAS/STU/CU and a successful applicant. During negotiation, all matters regarding his/her fellowship shall be concluded too.

Fellowship

Start of the fellowships selected under the third call of SASPRO 2 Programme is expected in July or September 2022. Duration of fellowships shall be minimum 12 months and maximum 36 months. All projects must be completed by September 30, 2025.
